Which team?At all R friends, we want every individual to feel safe, supported, and successful in our program. That’s why we place each friend on the team that best fits their strengths, needs, and comfort level, and where they will get the best approach for their current needs. Please review the descriptions below to help guide your selection on the waitlist form. If you’re unsure, that’s fine! We will also get to know your individual during the intake process when it is time for a trial day, and make a recommendation based on where we feel they’ll thrive the most.

Blue Team

Designed for individuals who are more independent with daily routines. Or who need fewer reminders to follow a routine.
Tends to move at a faster pace and includes larger group sizes.
Ideal for individuals who are completely independent in regards to communicating and advocating for themselves.
Many friends on the Blue Team participate in job-related tasks, community outings, social activities or group activities with minimal supports.
Focused more on job skills, independent life skills, with the educational activities and skills being more in line with middle school/ high school levels (however activities can and will be adapted to differentiating skill sets)
Daily support ratios are typically 1 staff to 6–12 individuals.

Green Team

Designed for individuals who benefit from smaller group sizes and a slower-paced day.
Ideal for friends who are non-verbal, have more limited communication, experience higher anxiety, or benefit from more hands-on guidance and visual supports. Friends might not always be able to accurately display their immediate wants and needs consistently. Because of this a daily communication log will be sent back and forth with home.
Friends might need some assistance or even total care with things like personal care, transitioning, or meals. Or with reminders in regards to these things.
Tends to be a more calm, structured environment with more individualized attention and sensory supports. Daily sensory time is utilized as well as more flexibility to move around the team room.
Focused more on life skills with the educational activities and skills being more in line with pre-school / elementary level (however activities can and will be adapted to differentiating skill sets)
Daily support ratios are 1 staff to 3 individuals. In order to qualify for the green team, individuals must be at a ‘C’ acuity (1 to 3 staffing ratio).

Not sure which team to choose for the waitlist?
No problem! Please call in and speak with either the Director of Day Support, Heidi Cline, or the Executive Director Ryan Cook so they can discuss it with you to ensure you are on the correct team. Otherwise, if you’re still not sure, feel free to add them onto the wait list for both teams. This will require you to submit the same application twice and select a different team each time. We will also follow up during the intake process to ask questions, and may adjust their placement based on our observations and team availability, to ensure they are in the most comfortable and supportive environment possible. Our teams all interact consistently through the day, and go out into the community the same amount during each week. Both groups also work on continuing education and skills to help our individuals become more independent. This is again more so each individual will be in the best environment set up for them to personally thrive.
